Kindles are available for checkout to any current TNCC student, faculty or staff member.
The loan period for the Kindles is 14 days, non-renewable, with a 24 hour waiting period between loans. Kindles are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No holds are allowed.
Checkout of a Kindle includes the device itself, a protective cover, a two-part A/C/USB adapter cord, and a Quick Start booklet.
Borrowers must sign a “Kindle Loan Agreement” with each checkout, acknowledging financial responsibility for lost or damaged equipment.
Kindles must be returned in person to the circulation desk at the campus at which they were originally checked out. Kindles may not be returned in the book drop.
Borrowers are responsible for damage or loss of the Kindle and/or accompanying parts while Kindle is checked out. Damage or loss will result in a replacement charge.
When Kindles are more than 28 days (4 weeks) overdue, the patron shall not be permitted to register for classes and the college will not issue transcripts, certificates, or degrees to the student until all overdue materials are returned or all amounts owed to the college paid in full.
Items more than 56 days (8 weeks) overdue are considered lost and incur a mandatory, per-item replacement fee plus a 15.5% non-refundable collection fee. At this time accounts will be and accounts will be turned over to the college business office and reported to the State Department of Taxation, and any state refunds or payments will be held until replacement fees are paid. In addition, a hold will be placed against student accounts which will prevent the ability to register, request transcripts, and graduate until all obligations have been satisfied.
Once fees are incurred item(s) can no longer be returned to the library. Paid fees are non-refundable.
Replacement costs are as follows:
- Kindle: $255.00
- Cover: $65.00
- A/C/USB adapter cord: $28.00
Borrowers may use their own Amazon accounts to purchase and download titles. Content loaded on the Kindle by borrowers will be deleted by library staff upon return.
Violation of any portion of this policy may result in the revocation of Kindle checkout privileges.
