Why Library Instruction?

Increases the effectiveness of student research--students spend time evaluating and synthesizing information, not searching for it.

Introduces key concepts necessary for academic success across the curriculum--citation, plagiarism, authority, evaluation, etc.

Builds familiarization with library research tools.

Introduces information literacy skills required for lifelong learning--Information Literacy is the set of skills needed to find, retrieve, analyze, and use information.
